Posting for Allen Horn
David Charnack
One of the more entertaining personalities in our class always was a joy to be within earshoot of what he had
to say. He would have made a good David Leterman/ Johnny Carson look alike, great sense of humor
always entertaining to his fellow classmates.
His memory will always linger in my mind. He had a certain compassion in his personality..

Alan, Wishing you a very happy upcoming birthday followed by a year of health and happiness. I think of you and your family often and think fondly of our teenage years and the friendship that our parents shared. Hard to believe that they are all gone but we do have our memories. Be well and warm regards to Ronnie. Best wishes, Maxine
Dearest friends,
it is with my deepest sympathy that I pass along the news that David Charnack passed away last night
Mara let me know this morning, so there are no details to pass along but just the sad news
I don't remember a time when David and Mara were not the best of friends, friendships that have lasted over many decades. Friendships that started out during her school days....
I always say keep those lines open, let people know you care, and how important they are and were to you.
My condolences to David's family and to his dear friend Mara.
hugs and love
Debby
Dear classmates,
It's hard to believe that David Charak is no longer with us. We have all lost a very good friend and a good man. I try to get to California at least once a year to visit with our friends who live there. David would often bring some of his photographs, which, over the years kept getting better and better. Then, at one point he mentioned his involvement with an organization called best buddies. He told me about spending time with youth diagnosed with developmental disabilities, and how gratifying this was for him. I was touched by his empathy for these young people, and how generous he was with his time and energy. He sent me his collection of photos at the time, and I was really taken with his photos of young children sometimes with their parents or coaches. He said we could use some of them for an organization I volunteer for - Strong Minds/Strong Kids Canada.
(www.strongmindsstrongkids.org) We create programs for kids about stress, from ages 3 to 18 and it's all free check it out, especially if you know any young people who are too stressed. When David died this week, I went back to those photos and started to think about the connection between empathy and capturing human beings in an evocative moment. It takes a lot of empathy to be a good photographer of people, to be able to see their souls, as David expressed it. David was rich with empathy and feeling. The ones with his wife Andrea are particularly evocative and the joy and mastery she expresses in her dance but also David's loving and admiration for her. (Www.Davidcharnackphotos.com)
Rest in peace dear David.
We thank you for your legacy of amazing photos you have given us, as well as all our personal memories .
Much love
